Advocacy Request

Advocacy is one of our core values

Members can request that RDAP take action on issues that relate to data management, sharing, curation, and preservation issues that align with our membership, mission, and values.

RDAP typically responds by issuing statements or comments on things such as:

  • Government proposals
  • Journal or publication policies
  • Position statements

Placing a request

It takes time to organize and draft a response.

At least 30 days are needed for the RDAP Executive Board to review and coordinate action. Requests with a shorter time frame can still be submitted but a response may not be possible.

Responses are made at the discretion of the Executive Board. A request to RDAP does not preclude the requester from submitting a personal response, or from organizing a response with others.

Information to include

  • Deadlines
  • Who you are
  • Why this issue matters to you and to RDAP's membership
  • Links to relevant documents, websites, etc.

Place a request by emailing the Executive Board.

Advocacy outcomes

RDAP's submitted organizational responses are archived on OSF and open to the public. They can be found by navigating to the folder OSF_Responses on the linked Google Drive storage.
