RDAP “Ask me Anything” town hall on “Thriving as a Data Information Professional”
The RDAP Education and Resource Committee invites you to join in the first of the “Ask me Anything” town hall meetings on the topic of “Thriving as a Data Information Professional” to share your experiences and expertise and to get help for questions you have about your daily work as a data information professional. If you are considering data information literacy as a part or the whole of your future profession or are already in the field, you have questions that need answers or have experiences and expertise that can answer someone else’s question. Please join your RDAP colleagues on Oct 30th from 3:30 to 4:30 EST via the following link for what promises to be a lively discussion on the vast world of being a data information professional.
On behalf of the committee,

RDAP Happenings, June 2019
This will be our last RDAP Happenings that will be communicated via the listserv. If you want to stay in the loop, please become a member (its free this year!).
JeSLIB CFP: Submissions for the RDAP 2019 Special Issue are due June 30th. The 2019 Special Issue will focus on the Summit’s themes, “Building Communities: How Different Communities are Impacted by Our Systems, Technology, Values, and Practices; Who Our Communities are By and For; and Data Services Examined through a Critical Lens.”
This is an open submissions call that encourages all RDAP19 presenters (talk, poster, presentation), especially first-time presenters, to submit. There is also encouragement for new and veteran RDAP Summit attendees to write and submit Commentaries to the special issue – it’s a great way to jump into scholarly publishing. Guidelines for authors should be followed carefully when preparing your manuscript.

RDAP Happenings, May 2019
We’re in full countdown to the RDAP Summit on May 15-17 in Miami, FL. If you have not registered yet, there is still time to do so! We look forward to seeing everyone in Miami!
RDAP and JeSLIB will continue their partnership with a special issue for the 2019 Summit focusing on the Summit’s themes, “Building Communities.” The issue will have an open submissions call, and we encourage all presenters (talk, poster, presentation) — especially first-time presenters — to submit. We also encourage first-time authors to enroll in the Summit workshop, “Turning Your Poster or Presentation into a Paper.” Submissions will be due June 30, 2019.
Check out the blog posts from each sponsoring institution to learn more about why sponsorship matters and what these folks are looking forward to at this year’s summit!

RDAP Happenings, April 2019: Summit Update, Membership, Executive Board Nominations, and Town Hall Date
We look forward to seeing everyone at RDAP Summit in Miami on May 15-17. This is our first Summit as an independent professional association AND RDAP’s 10th Summit! The program is published on RDAP website.
Thank you to the Conference Planning Committee for its efforts to be more inclusive this year. This includes an updated Code of Conduct, access to a lactation space during the conference, a ramp for stage access, a gender neutral bathroom, guidance to presenters on how to make presentations more accessible, and more! Please contact us with any questions or additional accommodation requests.
RDAP and JeSLIB will again partner for a special conference issue of the journal. Details of the call for submissions will go out soon. We also encourage those interested to register for the Summit’s Friday morning workshop on turning a presentation or poster into an article; the session will be lead by the RDAP’s Publishing Committee, many of whom are associated with JeSLIB.
